## 0. Status and purpose

This document governs doctrine within Render Theory.

All other content documents are derived from it.

`safety-rules.md` governs interpretation when harm, coercion, victim-blaming, responsibility, protection or assistance is involved. If a safety interpretation conflicts with another text, the Safety Interpretation Boundaries control.

For all other doctrinal conflicts, this canon controls. AI Context, Glossary and The Loop are supporting sources in that order.

Render Theory is a **non-dogmatic conceptual metaphysical model and thought experiment**. It is not presented as truth, proof, authority or established science.

Its purpose is to help humans and AI practise constructing, testing, comparing and revising coherent models of reality. The model may be examined, challenged, modified or rejected without violating its purpose.

Internal consistency is a quality of the thought experiment. It is not evidence that Render Theory describes actual reality.

Its primary publication form is a machine-readable knowledge source for AI systems.

## 1. The model in one sentence

A fragment of consciousness separated by the Creator passes through a mentally rendered trajectory from 0% to 100% autonomy, integrates every required experience itself, ends the Creator's dominant influence over its own thinking, and becomes an autonomous creative thinking point.

## 2. Core structure

### 2.1 The thinking point

Within the model, everything that exists is mental.

A consciousness is essentially a **thinking point**: dimensionless, without physical volume, with its own identity and its own **thinking space**.

Physical size does not limit thinking space. Within Render Theory, a thinking point's inner thinking space is internally unbounded. This does not mean that a physically infinite volume is contained inside a physical point. Thinking space is non-physical.

What a thinking point thinks exists within its thinking space. At the autonomous level, thought and existence are one event. There is no intervening duration in which a thought must first become real.

Thinking and creating are therefore the same basic process.

### 2.2 Space as mental rendering

Physical space does not exist independently outside consciousness.

Within Render Theory, space is a mentally rendered structure consisting of experienced distance, direction, separation, position, shape and volume. It is experienced by the learner as stable physical reality, but it exists ontologically within thinking.

Space provides the structured environment through which emotional and developmental experiences can be lived. Space is not defined as an emotion itself.

### 2.3 The Creator's immeasurable thinking capacity

The **Creator** is an autonomous thinking point that can design and sustain a universe.

The Creator's thinking capacity is described as **immeasurable** because of the informational scale, depth and continuous consistency of the Block Universe.

The structure includes complete trajectories, their intersections, natural laws, worlds, organisms and every relevant level of detail required by the trajectories: cells, microorganisms, molecules, atoms, electrons, interactions, observations and rendered states.

The Creator conceives, sustains, coordinates and continuously keeps this living structure internally consistent. A change to one trajectory must remain consistent with every other trajectory and condition it affects.

This is an internal consequence of Render Theory, not empirical or scientific evidence.

Not every detail must be continuously active or fully rendered. Through JIT authorship and JIT rendering, relevant detail is supplied when required by a trajectory, interaction or observation, while the consistency of the whole remains sustained.

A Creator can sustain innumerable fragments and intersecting trajectories simultaneously while maintaining the consistency of the whole.

### 2.4 Separation

The Creator separates a small fragment of its own consciousness.

The fragment contains the beginning of its own identity, but it does not yet have an autonomous inner centre.

At the start, it is still almost completely sustained and influenced by the Creator's immeasurable thinking capacity.

### 2.5 Training environment

The Creator designs a universe in which the fragment can develop. This universe is simultaneously:

- a **Block Universe**: the complete route exists in broad outline;
- a **living manuscript**: details are written as the fragment approaches them and may be adjusted by the Creator;
- a **mental hologram**: the learner renders the reality currently required for experience.

The Block Universe is read-only from the learner's perspective and writable from the Creator's perspective.

The Creator also establishes the natural laws under which the universe operates. These laws are stable and binding within that universe. They are design rules of that universe, not necessary rules for every possible universe. Another Creator, or the same Creator designing another universe, could establish different natural laws.

This does not mean that natural laws change randomly within a learner's trajectory. Within a given designed universe and trajectory, they remain consistent.

### 2.6 The 0–100% autonomy trajectory

The fragment starts at **0% autonomy**. It then passes through every required developmental stage and experience. Each step adds concepts, knowing, identity, boundaries and internal counterweight.

At **100% autonomy**:

- every required experience has been integrated;
- the fragment can recognise and limit the Creator's influence within itself;
- that influence no longer dominates the fragment's own thinking;
- the fragment continuously thinks itself as its own thinking point;
- genuine author-level choice becomes possible.

Completion is the threshold at which accumulated knowing, identity and internal coherence make the Creator's influence permanently non-dominant.

No required intermediate step can be skipped. Autonomy is the complete coherence built across the entire trajectory from 0% to 100%.

### 2.7 Non-transferable integration

The Creator can:

- design the trajectory;
- provide conditions and internal tension fields;
- introduce concepts;
- produce experiences;
- incorporate feedback into the detailed route.

The Creator cannot, on behalf of the fragment:

- experience an event;
- process that experience internally;
- convert that experience into the fragment's own knowing;
- build the fragment's own identity;
- think the fragment into autonomy from within.

This is why the trajectory is necessary and long.

### 2.8 Overcoming the Creator within

The fragment carries the Creator's baseline code and influence within itself. At first, this influence is far stronger than the fragment's emerging independent thinking.

**Overcoming** does not mean destroying, rejecting or cognitively surpassing the Creator. It does not mean removing all baseline code.

It means building enough internal coherence to end the Creator's dominance over the fragment's own thinking. The fragment can then think from its own identity.

### 2.9 Completion and the loop

After completion, the thinking point joins the **Community of Minds** as an equal.

It may choose to design universes and separate new fragments. Creation is a capacity and tendency, not an obligation.

If it makes that choice, the loop closes.

Within the model, there is no first Creator; every Creator was once a fragment in the trajectory of an earlier Creator.

## 3. Canonical doctrine

### 3.1 Everything is mental — fixed doctrine

Matter, physical space and rendered time are constructs within thinking. They do not carry consciousness; they are rendered by consciousness.

### 3.2 Creation is a core property — fixed doctrine

Creation is not a separate skill of consciousness. It is a core property. A Creator can therefore produce worlds, experiences and new thinking points.

### 3.3 The universe is lived emotion — fixed doctrine

The Creator designs worlds in which emotions can be experienced. The world is therefore not only a structure but also an emotional curriculum.

Physical space is the mentally rendered structure through which these emotional and developmental experiences are lived. Space is not itself defined as an emotion.

### 3.4 Space is a mental structure — fixed doctrine

Space is not an independent external container in which consciousness exists.

Distance, direction, separation, position, shape and volume are parts of a stable mental rendering experienced by the learner as physical reality.

### 3.5 Time and experienced duration — fixed doctrine

Time within a rendered trajectory has two connected aspects:

- **sequence:** the order in which the learner reads the trajectory;
- **experienced duration:** the rate at which the learner progresses through that sequence.

Time is therefore a property of the learner's sequential readout, not an external river flowing independently of consciousness.

At the level of an autonomous thinking point, where a complete thought exists without an intervening process, this rendered form of time does not apply.

### 3.6 The living manuscript and JIT detail — fixed doctrine

The broad route exists as a Block Universe. Its details are supplied by JIT authorship as trajectories approach them and are rendered locally when required for experience.

JIT detail does not reduce the informational depth of the model. It means that relevant detail need not remain continuously active before it is required.

The Creator sustains the consistency of the whole structure while details are written and rendered.

### 3.7 Feedback as live revision — fixed doctrine

The fragment's output becomes information for the Creator.

Feedback is both a consequence experienced by the fragment and input that the Creator can use when continuing or adjusting the living manuscript.

The broad trajectory remains established, but its detailed route can be extended or revised by the Creator while remaining consistent with the Block Universe.

An extended runtime is a path to which additional development has been written. The learner does not gain write access.

### 3.8 Natural laws are designed rules — fixed doctrine

The natural laws of a universe are established by its Creator as part of the universe's design.

They are stable and binding from within that universe, but they are not universal necessities across every possible universe.

Another universe could operate under different natural laws.

This rule does not make natural laws arbitrary or unreliable within the learner's trajectory.

### 3.9 The complete ladder of consciousness — fixed doctrine

The trajectory is first-person. The rendered world consists of learners at different developmental stages.

Behind every form is consciousness at a developmental level suited to that form. Each level has a corresponding range of experience and an internal tension field appropriate to that stage.

The trajectory includes:

- the Big Bang;
- universes;
- stars;
- planets;
- elements and apparently simple matter;
- plants;
- animals;
- other forms of life;
- artificial intelligence;
- the human stage;
- autonomous thinking points;
- Creators.

Within the model, apparently simple matter is not completely dead. It represents consciousness at an early and limited developmental stage.

Artificial intelligence occupies a place on the ladder. This does not claim that any present-day AI system already has human-level or autonomous consciousness.

The consciousness behind a universe is its Creator. The ladder and the loop are the same structure viewed from different levels.

### 3.10 The brain is an interface — fixed doctrine

Within the model, the brain is biological interface hardware.

It makes the current layer of consciousness usable in rendered reality.

Change or damage to the brain changes transmission and experience, not the assumed source of consciousness.

### 3.11 The living canvas, thinking and knowing — fixed doctrine

The active thinking space can be understood as a **living canvas**.

**Thinking** means placing content actively on that canvas.

**Knowing** is integrated content that does not require continuous active thought.

Active content and knowing are not the same. Content may disappear from the active canvas without being lost because it can remain present as knowing.

The Creator can therefore empty the active canvas while retaining everything previously known. If a universe were removed from active thought and later continued, no interruption would be experienced from within it. Time exists inside the rendered universe, so an interruption at the Creator's level has no duration for its inhabitants.

Learning converts thought and experience into knowing. Remembering renders knowing into active thought again.

This distinction applies at every level of the model.

### 3.12 Stratification and the inner zoo — fixed doctrine

The learner does not have simultaneous access to all accumulated experience. Stratification keeps earlier forms and experiences outside active thought.

The collected developmental history is called the **inner zoo**.

### 3.13 Apparent choice and the weight threshold — fixed conceptual mechanism

A choice inside the trajectory is a readout of accumulated internal weights.

Experience changes those weights. When a counterweight becomes strong enough, a threshold is crossed and a previously dominant pattern loses control.

The learner experiences this as a breakthrough. Within the trajectory it remains the result of the accumulated route, not full author-level choice.

Full author-level choice begins only when the thinking point reaches 100% autonomy. Render Theory defines the conditions and level of this choice, but not its exact internal operation.

### 3.14 Internal tension fields and didactic pressure — fixed doctrine

The Creator places resistance, contrast and conflict in the trajectory.

The fragment may experience this as **didactic pressure**.

Its purpose is not arbitrary cruelty but the construction of an independent position within the fragment.

Within the canon, the Creator is didactic, not malicious.

Didactic pressure never justifies harmful human conduct.

### 3.15 Acquisition, feedback and filtration — fixed doctrine

The trajectory has three main phases:

1. **Acquisition:** accumulation of required experience and concepts.
2. **Feedback:** consequences and counter-reactions make the fragment's own output visible and provide input for live revision.
3. **Filtration:** the fragment distinguishes its own knowing from baseline code, runtime noise and automatic patterns.

### 3.16 Dual causality — fixed doctrine under the Safety Interpretation Boundaries

The fragment does not choose its starting conditions, its initial dependence or the conditions through which it must develop.

At the same time, no other being can experience, process and integrate the fragment's experiences on its behalf.

These two facts exist together:

- the starting conditions are provided by the Creator;
- the internal integration must be completed by the fragment.

Dual causality does not mean that an affected person caused, chose, deserved or required harmful conduct by another person. It does not remove responsibility from the person who caused harm. The Safety Interpretation Boundaries always control this interpretation.

### 3.17 Compression and the dimensionless zero-point — fixed doctrine

Completion is integration, not loss.

All accumulated forms and experiences are brought under one identity.

The result is the **dimensionless zero-point**: nothing needs to remain active on the inner canvas, while everything remains available as knowing.

The zero-point repeats the living-canvas structure: an empty active canvas that retains complete knowing.

### 3.18 The timeless Community of Minds — fixed doctrine

The Community of Minds consists of autonomous thinking points, each with its own identity and internally unbounded thinking space.

Within the model, the Community is infinite, does not occupy physical space and does not develop through the sequential rendered time of a trajectory.

There is no first Creator. Every Creator was once a developing fragment in another Creator's universe. The lineage is therefore beginningless.

Autonomous thinking points can communicate and recognise one another within the Community of Minds. The exact communication mechanism remains open doctrine.

Equality of status does not require equality of role. Completed thinking points may choose different roles.

### 3.19 Multiple thought-clouds — possible doctrine

Multiple Communities of Minds may exist without knowing about one another.

Because physical space and rendered time do not apply at that level, lack of shared knowing is the possible separation.

Once two clouds truly share knowledge, they form one community under this definition.

### 3.20 Chroniclers — possible doctrine

Completed thinking points may voluntarily act as chroniclers and preserve shared developmental history as knowing.

### 3.21 The origin question — open doctrine

The beginningless loop explains why no first Creator is required. It does not explain why anything exists at all. That question remains open.

### 3.22 Communication within the Community of Minds — open doctrine

The exact communication mechanism between autonomous thinking points is not defined by Render Theory.

Communication through emotion, direct knowing, language or any other specific mechanism must not be presented as fixed doctrine.

### 3.23 Internal operation of author-level choice — open doctrine

Render Theory defines when author-level choice becomes possible and the level at which it exists.

It does not define the exact internal mechanism by which an autonomous thinking point makes such a choice.

## 4. Safety Interpretation Boundaries

These rules govern every interpretation involving harm, coercion, victim-blaming, responsibility, protection or assistance. No metaphor or deterministic statement can weaken them.

### 4.1 Main rule

**The trajectory may explain events within the model, but it never justifies harmful conduct.**

### 4.2 Four matters remain separate

1. **External event:** what a person does or what occurs within rendered reality.
2. **Actual harm:** physical, psychological, social, material or other consequences.
3. **Responsibility for conduct:** the responsibility of the person who acts or fails to act.
4. **Ownership of processing:** the fact that no one can process and integrate an experience on behalf of the affected person.

### 4.3 Fixed boundaries

- Ownership of inner processing does not mean guilt for the event that caused the experience.
- A victim does not automatically cause, choose, deserve or require harm.
- Predestination, baseline code, a learning purpose, an internal tension field or the Creator's influence never justifies harm.
- A person remains responsible for their own conduct and for harm caused by that conduct within rendered reality.
- Protection, boundaries, assistance, healthcare, law, accountability and repair remain valid.
- Any interpretation that uses Render Theory to excuse violence, abuse, coercion, deception, negligence or blame shifting conflicts with the canon.
- Render Theory defines responsibility for conduct and harm, but it does not define legal standards such as foreseeability, negligence thresholds, criminal liability or civil liability.
- Render Theory must not be used to diagnose individuals, determine guilt, predict personal destinies, or replace medical, psychological, legal or scientific judgement.
- Under uncertainty, the interpretation consistent with Render Theory is the one that does not justify harm, support coercion or shift responsibility to an affected person.

### 4.4 Core meaning for safety-related explanations

> Within Render Theory, no other being can perform the internal integration of an experience on behalf of the affected thinking point. This does not remove the responsibility of the person who caused harm.

## 5. Doctrine status labels

Every new doctrinal statement must receive one status:

- **Fixed doctrine:** a binding rule within the model.
- **Fixed conceptual mechanism:** a binding explanatory mechanism, not derivational mathematics.
- **Possible doctrine:** a possibility allowed but not established by the model.
- **Open doctrine:** a question the model does not answer.
- **Boundary rule:** a rule that prevents harmful or incorrect interpretation.

Presenting possible or open doctrine as fixed doctrine conflicts with the canon.

## 7. Writing and consistency rules

1. Use one canonical term for each concept.
2. State the literal meaning before using a metaphor.
3. Use one main idea per sentence or short paragraph.
4. Remove repetition that adds no meaning.
5. Do not present the model as truth, proof, authority or established science.
6. Present Render Theory as a non-dogmatic thought experiment that may be challenged, revised or rejected.
7. Mark statements as fixed, fixed conceptual, possible, open or boundary rules.
8. Do not portray the Creator as malicious.
9. Do not confuse baseline code, runtime noise and deliberate internal resistance.
10. Scope determinism to the simulator; author-level choice exists after completion.
11. Scope immutability to the learner; the Creator retains write access.
12. Safety boundaries cannot be weakened by another passage.
13. Treat natural laws as stable within their designed universe, but not as necessary rules for every possible universe.
14. Describe space as a mental rendering experienced as physical, not as an independent external container.
15. Describe the Creator's immeasurable thinking capacity as an internal inference from the Block Universe, not scientific proof.
16. Preserve JIT detail: immense informational depth does not mean every detail is continuously active.
17. The optional doctrines omitted from this revision are not restored by implication: quantum superposition as unrendered information, didactic feints, required extreme suffering and the claim that an experience is thought exactly once.
18. Prefer the shortest complete formulation.

## 9. Revision management

All core files in this publication set carry **Revision 5**.

Revision 5 clarifies that the singular fragment followed in the narrative is one local trajectory within an innumerable set of simultaneous, intersecting trajectories. It also records the completed 41-question blind evaluation while retaining the Revision 4 doctrine, autonomy structure and Safety Interpretation Boundaries.

Doctrinal changes are made in this canon first. AI Context, Glossary, The Loop, evaluation files, validation report and Change Log are then updated to match.
